Advantage & Disadvantage sip trunking

Advantage & Disadvantage Sip Trunking - SIP Trunking is a direct connection between our organizations with an ITSP (Internet Telephony Service Provider). With SIP trunking we can use VoIP (Voice over IP) outside the internal network without requiring an IP-PTSN gateway. Surely this will facilitate and minimize the cost of doing the design, operation, maintenance, and upgrades.

Advantage and Disadvantage SIP Trungking

The term 'trunk' in SIP trunking, is a virtual connection between telecommunications systems. The connection can be through a special path to SIP trunking, or a special line for SIP trunking and other IP traffic, or can also be via the Internet VPN.

The advantages of using SIP trunking, among others, as follows:

     1. Reduce the cost of long distance service
     2. Eliminates IP-PSTN gateways / PBX
     3. Eliminates redundant network
     4. Eliminate the cost of the subscription BRI and PRI
     5. Expand the capabilities of Lync Server with new services from ITSP

Comparison of SIP trunking connection type, as follows:

Connection Type

The most reliable
safer
does not require vpn
call capacity highest-carying
most expensive
Special  lanes (leased line) shared with other IP traffic, often using MPLS
safer
does not require vpn
Very high IP traffic can cause interference with VoiP, unless VoIP traffic is given priority
Public (internet)
cheapest
less safe
require VPN
less reliable
the capacity of the lowest call-carying
